Eurocypria Airlines, began operations in 1992 with two brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and each seating 174 people in comfort. Flying the latest aircraft with staff committed to offering the best service possible, Cyprus' first charter airline was established with very clear guidelines. First and foremost was a determination to be recognised as the best charter airline in Europe. In order to achieve this, Eurocypria realised that it had to offer high quality service, impeccable reliability and value for money.
Another major part of Eurocypria's original vision was to make Cyprus more accessible to those European regions without direct flights to the island, a policy which continues today. With the ability to operate out of almost any airport in Europe, Eurocypria now flies from over 60 different destinations in 15 countries - compared with 15 destinations and 6 countries back in 1992. Its experience as a successful charter carrier has also allowed Eurocypria to branch out into other fields, including scheduled flights and tailor-made services for individual bookings.
After beginning operations in 1992 with two brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, Eurocypria added a third A320 to the fleet in April 1993 and a fourth in March 2001. Since the inaugural flight between Larnaka and Birmingham on the 25th March 1992, Eurocypria has gone from strength to strength. Carrying a total of 195,650 passengers on 675 return flights in 1992, the growth has been constant. 2003 saw the company fly 1,655 return flights and carry 500,000 passengers.
Eurocypria's original commitment to reliability and punctuality has also been upheld - with outstanding results. No one likes airport delays, and in successive reports compiled by the Air Transport Users Council, Eurocypria ranks among the top European charter airlines for punctuality. In 2000, Eurocypria came top of the list.
Highly-trained and multi-lingual, Eurocypria's crew have earned praise from travellers all over Europe for their courteous and caring service onboard. Staff are committed to creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, remaining highly professional at all times.
Eurocypria has also become known for its charitable work. The Charity Committee of Cabin Crew not only organises events to benefit local charities, it also arranges pleasure flights across the island for local children's groups and organisations.
Keeping up to date with the very latest in technology, 2003 has seen Eurocypria completely renew its fleet with new livery and aircraft.
Between February and April 2003, Eurocypria replaced its Airbus fleet with brand new Boeing 737-800NG aircraft. Capable of flying up to 2,905 nautical miles (5,380 kilometres), each of the new Boeing aircraft will offer 189 leather seats and the very latest in-flight entertainment systems to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable flight. The decision to switch from Airbus to Boeing was taken with careful consideration of the requirements of a successful European charter airline and, according to the General Manager, the Boeing 737-800 was the "ideal choice".
The 18th of April 05, marked the commencement of flight operations from Heraklion for Eurocypria Airlines. During Summer 2005, Eurocypria operated flights from Crete to 13 European destinations in 6 countries, with an Airbus 320 aircraft which was based in Heraklion, bringing the total number of aircraft operated by Eurocypria to five.
In October 05, Eurocypria also established an operational base in Sharm-El-Sheikh in Egypt, operating flights from Egypt to other European countries.
Saturday, the 17th of June 2006, marked the delivery of the fifth Boeing 737-800NG aircraft for Eurocypria Airlines. The first commercial flight operated by the brand new aircraft was to Basle in Switzerland, carrying a total of 150 passengers. The new Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 with winglets, is leased from (CIT) and configured to offer 189 leather seats and inflight entertainement system, in line with the rest of Eurocypria’s fleet. The aircraft is operating out of Eurocypria’s base in Heraklion, operating flights from Crete and Rhodes to other European countries, such as UK, Ireland, France, Poland, Switzerland and Sweden.
On Saturday, 14th April 2007, Eurocypria took delivery of a sixth Boeing 737-800NG aircraft, replacing the A320 aircraft which was based in Heraklion.
On the 2nd of November 2007, Eurocypria commenced operations from Poland (Warsaw airport), where an new operating base was established serving numerous airports in Europe as well as some destinations outside Europe, like Mombasa in Kenya, with charter flights. Eurocypria faces the future with confidence and pride. With its continued effort to provide punctual and economical air travel of superior quality to passengers from all over Europe, Eurocypria is looking forward to an even more successful future. |
